A Special Book I read when I was a preschool teacher for a couple of years. These two Naturalists/fathers write about the importance of children having wild places to play and be. They share studies about the effects of asphalt in the schoolyard versus more greenery. Hey, guess which schoolyard was found to create segregation by sex and race? All asphalt, of course. The playground with greenery growing and bushes to play around had kids playing togther with no division by sex or race. Full of other compelling observations. |
